In alternativa alle mappe originali Garmin, le quali dalla mia esperienza solo a volte sono più dettagliate, pur avendo alcune prerogative in più, esiste un un sistema che utilizza le mappe OSM (Open Street Map), ovvero mappe mondiali condivise e aggiornate volontariamente da tanti utenti nel mondo (maggiori info su wikipedia e il sito ufficiale )
Ma ancora meglio, esiste un sito olandese estremamente utile che consente di creare mappe pronte per essere utilizzate dai navigatori Garmin
Una volta selezionata la mappa, si dovrà inserire un’email ove ricevere il link che consentirà di scaricare i file.
Dopo aver inserito l’email, avrete questo testo

Nel mio caso il link dice che sono il terzo in ordine e che ci vorranno circa 18 minuti

Da notare che il link rimane attivo per 96 ore
Quindi lo stesso link, trascorsi i 18 minuti, apparirà aggiornato ma di ciò vi avvertirà la seconda email. Quando la vostra mappa è pronta, riceverete la seconda email

Vari formati, tra cui direttamente la mappa .IMG (zippata, riga rossa) da inserire nel navigatore oppure il setup per installare la mappa sul pc Mapsource o Basecamp (software Garmin, riga verde)
